Top 40 Albums of 2011: 14-11

The top 10 will come in two parts over the next two days!!

14. Bright Eyes - "The People's Key"
The eighth studio album from Conor Oberst's Bright Eyes project was an ambitious slice of indie folk which weaved electronic influences throughout its running time. It may have divided critics, but holds up magnificently on repeat listens

13. The Answer - "Revival"
The third album from Northern Irish blues tinged hard rockers The Answer is their most complete to date. Powerful, riff heavy songs with a great vocal performance from Cormac Neeson throughout.

12. Black Country Communion - "2"
The third of Joe Bonamassa's albums to reach this countdown, and a juggernaut of a record. Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian's second studio album together builds on their debut, leaving us with brilliant, bluesy hard rock classics.

11. Funeral For A Friend - "Welcome Home Armageddon"
Almost ten years since their emergence, Funeral For A Friend released their strongest effort to date. "Welcome Home Armageddon" is an album that will be looked back on as defining post-hardcore. An absolute triumph.
